Why we shouldn’t drink soda.

Who doesn’t love soda? Throughout high school I drank soda mostly every day and mostly my adult life without even thinking about how bad it is for me.  When I decided to go on a diet I did some research on drinking soda and this is what I found. All I can say was wow, that’s what I’m putting into my body?  Here’s what I found on this siteWaterforlifeusa.com .  Soda is very acidic with a pH of 2.5 and we all know anything under 7 isn’t good for us well maybe except lemons and limes. We can use cola to clean rust! Also it can weaken the enamel on your teeth causing cavities due to the high sugar content.
Last year in Chemistry class to show how much sugar there are in soda, my professor placed a regular cola and a diet cola into a jar of water and the regular cola sank to the bottom while the diet cola floated on top. Diet is not better either because of the artificial sweetener contained in the diet cola can cause side effects like headaches, dizziness, nausea and even depression. And remember whatever we give our children will affect them three times more than us. Here is an informative website about different types of artificial sweeteners that's Americans use sweetpoisen.com
Another aspect of drinking soda is that it strips away the calcium in our bones causing them to be weak.  This will pose as a problem for most women because we need as much calcium as we can get for our bones because we tend to lose bone mass more than men due to childbirth. Also it’s not safe for kids as well because not only is it making our kids obese, they can fracture their bones more easily than kids who don’t drink soda. So think about this when you’re craving for that ice cold cola, do you really want to put that high sugar acidic drink into your body?

  1. I have heard the comments about sweetners and remember back when the "medical experts" warned us all of the extreme danger of using saccarin as a sweetner and it was taken off the market. Just a few years ago, they decided they were wrong and allowed it to come on the market again. I agree that soda is not good for you in many ways, but I really have to wonder if there is too much hype over the sweetners used in Diet Soda.

  2. There are some interesting facts about sweeteners. Some of them fool your body into thinking you are ingesting sugar which can still cause your body to produce fat when the sugar is not used. And yet there are others that your digestive system cannot absorb so they go right through. I am a soda drinker - a Diet Coke drinker to be exact and strangely enough I drink it for the taste because I'm more a fan of bitter/salty flavors than sweet/sugary flavors. And while I know that cutting them out all together would be great, I do limit my intake and balance it with water, juice, and milk. The important thing to watch on drinks is the sugar content in relation to the nutritional value because some of the drinks we think to be the healthiest really aren't.

  3. Everything in moderation, excess of anything is not good for you. Studies change all the time, eggs are bad, no wait...now their good, you have to judge for yourself by the way things effect your body, if something makes you feel bad you know it has a bad effect on you, and that you shouldn't use it.

  4. Very interesting. We don't ever have soda in our home. We occassionally get it when we go out to eat, but at home, it's milk, water, and some types of juice. I prefer the fruitables juice, and my kids love them. I really enjoyed the info you posted. Thanks
